The tourism Industry is one of the most wadded industries with the spread of coronavirus.
During the pandemic period. almost all the countries closed doors on the tourists and there was a collapse in the local tourism Industry too as a result of countries being locked down and imposing a curfew.
Due to the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic is still not over yet, the tourists are being given the chance to travel to foreign countries with the help of a new concept called the "travel bubble". Tourists being able to travel without being under quarantine for a longer period is the specialty of this concept. It is also known as "Air Bridge".
This concept was first implemented between China and South Korea on the 1st of May 2020. "Tasman Travel Bubble" program started after that which was between Australia and New Zealand. Shortly after European countries too followed these footsteps and started their travel bubble programs.
The tourism between Sri Lanka and Ukraine also re-started using the adoption of this Travel bubble concept. Here the tourists along with their drivers and guides too were asked to follow the health and safety regulations imposed by the government.
The travel Bubble concept initially started between contiguous countries and then expanding to countries in different continents has been a good sign for the future of the tourism industry. As of now the Travel Bubble programs between Asian and European countries too have been implemented.
Some major sporting events including Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Euro 2020 Championships, ICC T20 world cup, and World Athletics Indoor Championships was postponed due to the spread of the corona virus. IPL tournament was organized later in October in UAE and matches were played without any spectators but the crowds can be allowed to enter the grounds and watch these tournaments if this travel bubble concept is adopted successfully.
In a background where scientists from various countries have invented a few vaccines for COVID-19, more tourists are encouraged to get the vaccine and visit other countries. It will be a huge benefit for countries who earn their foreign exchange from tourism and would give a helping hand to people working in the industry.
